Odd you mention listàn blanco. There's enough of it in Spain in a very different appearance, ... but in France?! Can you recommend somebody who makes drinkable listàn in France?

Great article, and I love Muscadet. On the other hand, it's rather limiting to see it recommended only with seafood. Chablis can go with lots of dishes, by contrast.

Those of us in flyover country who are trying to eat sustainably don't get so much swimmy things, especially this time of year. (I'm allergic to crustaceans, which doesn't help.)

What else to drink it with?


Frank, I don't eat shell fish either, in fact, I barely could eat anything but bread on that day. But, yes, muscadet is great with many great fin fish from gravlax to cerviche. For you locked-in states, what's the matter with smoked trout salad and muscadet? Asparagus? Celery root gratin? Also, not half-bad with tomato quiche..etc. Muscadet with age can step in for chablis, and go the chicken route as well. Lots of cheeses, crumbly goats for example.

It is a great wine with seafood, hence the cliché, however, remember with the Atlantic minutes away, the sea is local for Nantes. Thanks for checking in. --Alice


And that listàn from the Canaries ... glugable?
Vinified in the normal way, I never had a palomino that I liked. Thin, flat, insipid wines with nothing to tell.
