This is one of the most enjoyable Burgundies I've drunk in ages. In fact finding wines like his is exactly why I love Burgundy and excellent to drink right now, as red Aubin is known for, So the question I have for you is, why did Savio Soares, the importer have a hard time selling it?
Maybe because it is a St. Aubin rouge, of which there are few, as this appellation, just west of Chassagne-Montrachet, is known for their whites, that are also way under valued.
I never visited Julien Altabar, and missed my chance to taste with him this winter at the Dive, because I'm an idiot and was distracted. He works with Dominique Derain and I really know little else. But the tastes is really all that matters. An ethereal and complex wine that should you be able to find it, would be in the $30 something category. Happy huntin.
